As soon as I saw this glass I knew it was a bit of me. Inspired by nature, digitally crafted, and meticulously refined for the ultimate Whisky drinking experience. It really enhances the complex flavors and aromatics in a Whisky and delivers them to the senses like never before. It needed to be on this list!
This cheeky little number is an absolute delight. The only Scotch Whisky to undergo a process called ‘micro maturation’…basically the usual distillation process but on acid…topped off with a tonne of science. Just my cup tea! It really does have a beautiful balance of vanilla oakiness, peat and creamy toffee.
Love the rich, roasty-toasty notes on this one. It’s bottled at cask strength too which really helps boost the aforementioned roasty-toasty notes.
For me this one is the benchmark of Islay Whiskies and it has to be on your shelf. Super peaty with sweet spices and a sherry, vanilla hit. Sublime!
I love this smooth wee tipple. Rich raisins and gentle smoke lead the way to a delicious chocolaty centre. If you want a sweet yet not overly smoky Whisky this one’s the ticket!
If you ignore all the other Whiskys on this list this is the one you can drink every day, any time of day and it never gets old. A smooth, sweet blend unlike any other!
Ledaig…pronounced Led Dig…have thrown down the gauntlet with this one. Mega flavoursome because of it’s Rioja wine cask finish getting them peaty notes alongside the ripe red fruit sweetness.
Not for the faint hearted! Octomore is the definition of peaty Whiskies. From you moment you open the bottle the room is blasted with peat. Tastes of charred oak and dried earth and a little hint of honey.
A super fresh Whisky that doesn’t break the bank. Pleasant honey & citrus notes with woody hints. If you don’t like the Whisky at least you’ll love the bottle.
If you can find a bottle this one is a delight! It may only be 8 years old but there’s such a massive flavour profile. Delicate notes of smoky peat with fresh and sharp green apples, alongside aromas of spiced rhubarb crumble with creamy vanilla custard.
A 5 year old which will absolutely blow your socks off. Drawn from a combination of ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks the peaty notes sit at the fore for this one, with oak somewhat taking a back seat. Smoky and musty and like standing by a seaside bonfire.
This one is another must have. Good amount of peat followed by toffee, nuttiness, hickory, rum and raisin. Love the balance of sweet and smoke.
This peaty beast is another bolter for me. It begins sweetly then yields a fragrant smokiness typical of Islay Whiskies. For the beginner palette it’ll take some getting used to but it’s a gem!
Characteristic lightness and grassy elements that Lowland whiskies are known for really shine through on this one. I enjoy this one as an aperitif on a warm evening.
As smooth as James Bond himself. The Macallan 12 Year Old is crisp and sweet. Raisins and floral notes are followed by that Sherry hint hallmark of Macallan. It’s basically a Christmas pud in a glass.
Finished in European oak Oloroso sherry butts the double wood is another sweet Whisky with a good body. You get those Bourbon cask characters popping out too with hints of vanilla, nuts and cinnamon. Sexy!
This zesty little number is a nice light Whisky with hints of tangerine and a lovely hint of vanilla. One for those summer days!
This one features a fairly pretentious palette no matter where you look. To not verge too much into those realms it’s a chocolatey, woody, orangey, spicy, syrupy belter!
You’ve probably never heard of this one and I’m not surprised. It hails from one of Scotland’s smallest distilleries whose production methods have pretty much stayed the same for the last 150 years…and I know why. It’s a fresh fruity Whisky with Sherry notes giving a similar impact than a good sipping rum. Super seductive!
Yup it’s Welsh…and it’s delightful. This little number is fresh as f*#k, sweet and fruity. Just another perfect light Whisky to share with your mates.
This Japanese blend combines both single malt and grain Whisky and packs some punch. Always find a huge flavour profile. Winter spice and toffee, a wee bit of caramel and vanilla and a good mouthful of fruit.
